Run to the Riviera Rally June 2011

This was our second Rally held at Liverton FC, near Bovey Tracey on the weekend 17th to 19th June 2011 and unfortunately the bad weather was topical conversation! Organised by our club and Liverton FC it attracted scooterists from all over England despite the bad weather.  Liverton FC had many volunteers and we must say a big thank you to all of them for the hard work they put in over the weekend and hope you enjoyed the event too. Thanks also to the security staff provided by Liverton FC for keeping an eye on everyone and thanks to the efforts of all those involved in making it a great success. Not forgetting the local residents (most of them!) who were very forgiving! Thank you

Apart from some delicious food dished up by the FC we also had The Soleroom Disco staring none other than Bernie himself and his back up DJ Dave who also did a great job pressing the right buttons on Bernie's Disco, 2 great live bands The Slimstyles (starring none other than our club member Ray Weller!!!... no relation!) and This Is England on Friday and Saturday night respectively. There was a Parts Fair which included Scooter Care, Marcus with second hand spares, Jason with his spares, and Tim with vinyl and CDs, A Scooter show with 6 trophy prizes supplied by Liverton FC, A ride out to Torquay along the beautiful Devonshire coastline to Torquay, A wellie chucking contest for charity which someone managed to throw 29+ mtrs!!!  (name coming soon!), TV in the club house and lots of prizes including a subscription to Classic Scooter Scene which was won by Phil from Crawley. A big thanks to Mau at Scootering for donating the prizes which were very well received. Pat and Paul won the longest ridden trophy as they had ridden all the way from Northants in atrocious weather. Very well done to them!

Also thanks to all the clubs and solo riders that attended the rally and made it a big success including The Troglodytes SC from Cornwall who won the Stan Burton award for best club turn out! (pic to follow). We couldn't have done it without you all and hope you had a good time as we did running it. We hope to be holding Run to the Riviera Rally again next year so watch this webspace!
