BRISTOL MODS RUN TO THE SUN
(Sunday 13th July)
ORGANISED BY THE RIVIERA SCOOTER CLUB
Over 50 scooters turned up (many had a pillion passenger)
from areas all over South West including Bristol, Plymouth, Exeter, and of
course South Devon. And for the first time 2 members from The New Forrest
SC who set off at 6am to ride 130 miles to join us! We headed down
to Torquay and parked up near the Harbour where some of us grabbed a bag
of chips and a cup of tea although no time to waste and we soon set off
again for the coastal run to Paignton and Brixham. The weather got better
as the day went on and it tuned out to be a much drier day than last year!
From Brixham we headed for the higher ferry where it took 2 journeys for
the raft type boat to get us across the river Dart to Dartmouth. We
arrived there at about 2.30pm and managed to park in the beautiful gardens
near the town centre where many of the Bristol Mods made a fantastic
spectacle by parking around the Band Stand. With many holiday makers
taking pictures between licking ice creams it seemed that the scooters
were an added attraction and a very large number of people enjoyed walking
through the park and stopping to look at these wonderful scooters. Apart
from solo riders some of
the clubs represented were The Showmen SC, The Bristol Mod SC, The Southern Templers SC
from Plymouth, St James SC from Exeter, The Riviera SC from Torbay,
The New Forrest SC and Torbay Mods SC. Many thanks to Rob Jenks and
others in the Riviera Scooter Club for organising what turned out to be a
great event |
