On a sunny but
cold Sunday recently 70 old classic and new classic designed
scooters turned up at the Pen Inn Newton Abbot for a New Year's
Ride Out on the Moors. There were many clubs and some solo riders
from all over Devon for this inter-club ride out organised by
Torbay Mods Scooter Club. We headed for Princetown via
Moretonhampstead and were glad to find the cafe open when we got
there to thaw out with coffee and chips! There were a few
breakdowns on the way as you would expect with old Lambrettas and
Vespas but thankfully nothing serious and we all managed to stay
upright! The final destination was Buckfastleigh and it was a
great sight with onlookers clapping and waving as we rode though
the beautiful Devonshire Countryside. Many said they were glad to
get out on their scooters on this popular annual event which was
timed perfectly after Christmas and into the New Year. Many thanks
go out to all the other clubs that turned up which were
The Showmen, Riviera SC, League
Of Gentlemen (Original Torbay Mods!) , Southern Templers from
Plymouth, St James and Isca SC from Exeter and Confederates from
Exmouth. Pictures were taken by
Rodge Musselwhite and Paul
Savin which can also be seen on This Is South Devon (Herald
Express) website (Coming
soon)
