Ride out to Looe 2009

Starting off in Torbay it was a good turnout considering the weather with 13 scooterists from 3 clubs in the Bay, Torbay Mods SC, The Riviera Scooter Club and The South Devon Showmewn SC. We set off for Plymouth at 9.45am on 23rd August and down there met up with a few others from Plymouth Quay Mods SC and the Southern Templars SC for the coastal ride down to Looe. We had been warned by Frank from Plymouth of the bad weather conditions down there and the forecast was mostly dry but we found it mostly wet and misty especially on the road from the Torpoint Ferry to Downderry where we stopped for lunch at the Seaton Beach Cafe. It was slippery on the road with Goerge nearly losing it and Roger ending up in the hedge on a sharp bend at Downderry! Still it made for a nice longish ride out and good to see the clubs getting together even though it wasn’t a big turn out. We didn’t hang about in looe (where there was hundreds of holiday makers watching us ride through the narrow streets!) as the weather was bad and after a chat over another cuppa we set off home on the quick route!
